NEWS:

BOX OFFICE - From Deadline:  "Moana 2," "Wicked," and "Gladiator 2" are fueling a record Thanksgiving holiday at American movie theaters, with the U.S. five-day total at 422 million dollars

From Deadline:  Disney's "Moana 2" is setting records at the international box office.

SCANDAL - From DeadlineNew Mexico special prosecutor, Kari Morrissey, is still trying to revive her criminal case against Emmy-winning actor, Alec Baldwin, in regards to the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western film, "Rust."  Judge Mary Marlow threw out the original case in July.  Baldwin still faces several civil lawsuits regarding the film.

CELEBRITY - From Variety:  Actress Melissa Barrera talks about her career in the wake of being fired from the "Scream" franchise by its owner, Spyglass.

DISNEY - From Variety:  Emmy-winning actor, Courtney B. Vance, will replace the late Lance Reddick as "Zeus" on the Disney+ series, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians."

ANIMATION - From Deadline:   The Animation Guild (IATSE Local 839) has reached a tentative deal with the major Hollywood studios.  With less than two weeks left until the current contract expiration and after multiple extensions, the bargaining unit announced Monday that it had finalized another three-year agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).  The deal goes to the Animation Guild members for a vote for ratification.

BOX OFFICE - From BoxOfficePro:  The winner of the 11/22 to 11/24/2024 weekend box office is Universal Studios' "Wicked" with an estimated total 114 million dollars.

STREAMING - From DeadlineJon Watts says he does not trust Apple enough to produce a sequel to his recent Apple TV+ film, "Wolfs" (starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney).

TELEVISION - From TheDailyBeast:  Cable news host and personality, Rachel Maddow, has reportedly inked a new deal with MSNBC in which Maddow takes a cut in her salary of 5 million dollars a year to helping the ailing network.  MSNBC's future, along with other Comcast cable networks, is uncertain.

OBITS:

From Deadline:  American film and television actor, Earl Holliman, had died at the age of 96, Monday, November 25, 2024.  Holliman came to fame for his numerous roles in Western film and drama in the 1960s, but he had numerous other notable roles.  He was the alcoholic beverage-loving "Cook" in the beloved film, "Forbidden Planet" (1956).  Holliman appeared on the 1959 debut episode of CBS' "The Twilight Zone" ("Where is Everyboby?").  He is also remembered for his four year run on former NBC cop drama, "Police Woman" (1974-78).  From 1958 to 1963, Holliman had a brief but successful career as a singer and recording artist, releasing 7 singles and EPs.  Holliman received two Golden Globe Award nominations, winning "Best Supporting Actor-Motion Picture" for "The Rainmaker" (1956).

From Deadline:  Film and television writer and director, Jim Abrahams, has died at the 80, Tuesday, November 26, 2024.  Abrahams was best known as part of the filming making team, "Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker," that he founded with brothers David Zucker and Jerry Zucker.  The trio was best known for its "spoof movies," which including "The Kentucky Fried Movie" (1977).  As a team they co-directed "Airplane" (1980), "Top Secret" (1984), "Ruthless People" (1986).  Their most famous creation may be the former ABC television comedy, "Police Squad!" (1982), which the later adapted into the "The Naked Gun" film series.

MOVIE AWARDS:

From DeadlineThe 2024 / 34th Gotham Awards kick off the 2024-25 movie awards season by announcing its nominations for achievement in film.  Director Sean Baker's "Anora," which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes this year, leads with four nominations.  The winners will be announced Monday, December 2, 2024.

From Deadline:  The nominations for the 2024 British Independent Film Awards have been announced.  The Irish film, "Kneecap," leads with 14 nominations. The winners will be announced Sunday, December 8, 2024.
