Additional highlights include:

Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World
Friday, March 3, 7:00pm

Jimi Hendrix was proud of his Cherokee grandmother, and Mohawk guitarist Robbie Robertson (The Band) remembers being told in the ‘50s when he started out in rock ‘n’ roll: “Be proud you’re an Indian, but don’t tell anybody.” Rumble is about the role of Native Americans in popular music history, a missing chapter. Winner at Sundance 2017. Directed by Catherine Bainbridge.

Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back
Friday, March 3, 4:30pm

Italian sculptor Maurizio Cattelan has become a superstar in the art world, with a major retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum. His sculptures—for example, an oversized Pinocchio floating face down in a pool—sell for millions of dollars. In this funny, mind-bending and visually beautiful film, Boulder director Maura Axelrod tries to find the “real” Cattelan, a task that is complicated by the fact that the artist is elusive, to say the least.

Dean
Friday, March 3, 7:30pm

Writer/director/comedian Demetri Martin stars alongside Academy Award winner Kevin Kline in this comedic and heartfelt tale about a father and son coming to terms with love, loss and everything in between. Both father and son set out on their own paths, as unexpected circumstances and potential new love interests threaten to thwart all plans. A CBS Films release. Directed and written by Demetri Martin.

Image Comics Announces "Street Angel" Hardcover

STREET ANGEL, THE DEADLIEST GIRL ALIVE, COMES TO IMAGE COMICS

Teenage homeless ninja skater STREET ANGEL gets a new hardcover this April

Jesse “Street Angel” Sanchez, of webcomic fame, will grace/deface a full-color hardcover graphic novel for the first time this April, from the Eisner Award-winning creative team of Jim Rugg (The PLAIN Janes, Afrodisiac) and Brian Maruca (Afrodisiac).

Sanchez is a kung fu master on a skateboard and a homeless orphan failing seventh grade.

In STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL, Jesse takes the Ninja Kid to school! Her fists are the facts and his face is the report card! Meanwhile, Saturday night's the big dance and Jesse doesn't want to go! Is love in the air? No. No, it’s not.

Jim Rugg describes STREET ANGEL as "a cross between the A-Team, a xenomorph, and Lacey Baker. She loves food, fist fights, hanging out with friends Bell (a robot), Lilith (Satan's daughter), and Emma (a zombie), skateboarding, candy, pizza, nutraloaf, grilled cheese, General Tso's, french fries, beer, chips, moon pies, Twinkies, sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, pancakes, spaghetti, mac & cheese, peanut butter, BBQ, wings, soda..."

Brian Maruca says "STREET ANGEL puts the fun back into being an orfun."

STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL HC (Diamond code: FEB170714, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0287-7) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 and bookstores on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, March 13th, 2017.

STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL HC  is available for preorder via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, and Indigo.

Select praise for STREET ANGEL:

"Jesse Sanchez is my new favorite comic book character. Great middle school dialogue and the battle scenes will blow your mind!” —Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL, Tuki)

The writing is sharp, witty, and riddled with teenage angst—even as it lampoons the idea. The art is deceptively simple: the high-contrast, black-and-white work appears stark at first glance, but upon closer examination reveals a depth that is startlingly poignant in some stories and fabulously over-the-top in others.” —Booklist

STREET ANGEL is pure, unadulterated punk.” —Multiversity Comics

All I wanna do is see Street Angel punch people, forever.” —Eleanor Davis (Libby’s Dad, How to Be Happy)

"Jesse, aka Street Angel, is a rare gem in the male-dominated world of comic book characters. When you finally find a comic book hero that is female, and also skateboards and kicks ass, that's when you know young girls out there now have a strong super hero to follow. STREET ANGEL shows girls that they can be anything they want to be, including someone who saves the world and fights injustices, one bad guy at a time. She also defies female stereotypes right and left, and that is pretty darn cool." —Cindy Whitehead, founder of Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word

"STREET ANGEL remains as charming, inventive, and pitch-perfect as it was in the beginning. An indie-comics classic!" —Hope Larson (Compass South, Batgirl)

"With great style and flair, Rugg delivers another stellar story of the ever-sassy Jesse Sanchez, aka Street Angel.  Jam-packed with tween angst, humor, action, and fun, this book is a must-read for the rebel set." —Cecil Castellucci (Shade, the Changing Girl; The PLAIN Janes)

STREET ANGEL pulsates with danger!” —Wendi Freeman, Double Page Spread podcast

2017 Scientific and Technical Academy Awards Handed Out February 11th

18 SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENTS TO BE HONORED WITH ACADEMY AWARDS

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 18 scientific and technical achievements represented by 34 individual award recipients, as well as five organizations, will be honored at its annual Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.

“This year we are particularly pleased to be able to honor not only a wide range of new technologies, but also the pioneering digital cinema cameras that helped facilitate the widespread conversion to electronic image capture for motion picture production,” said Ray Feeney, Academy Award® recipient and chair of the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee. “With their outstanding, innovative work, these technologists, engineers and inventors have significantly expanded filmmakers’ creative choices for moving image storytelling.”

Unlike other Academy Awards to be presented this year, achievements receiving Scientific and Technical Awards need not have been developed and introduced during 2016. Rather, the achievements must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the process of making motion pictures.

The Academy Awards for scientific and technical achievements are:

               TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS (ACADEMY CERTIFICATES)
