VIZ Media Announces Definitive Editon of "Death Note"
VIZ MEDIA ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF THE DEFINITIVE DEATH NOTE ALL-IN-ONE EDITION
Exclusive Print Edition Collects The 12-Volume Manga Series Into A Single Omnibus That Features A Never Before Published In English Epilogue Chapter
San Francisco, CA – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), a premier company in the fields of publishing, animation distribution, and global entertainment licensing, delivers a landmark release to DEATH NOTE fans with the DEATH NOTE All-In-One Edition.
An exclusive print release, the now-available omnibus combines all 12 volumes (that’s 2,400 pages) of the hit supernatural crime thriller into a single massive tome, which is presented in a beautiful silver slipcase. An extraordinary collectible and a must-have for manga fans, the new edition also contains an epilogue chapter that has never before been published in English.
DEATH NOTE was written by Tsugumi Ohba and features artwork by Takeshi Obata. The DEATH NOTE All-In-One Edition is rated ‘T+’ for Older Teen readers and carries a print MSRP of $39.99 U.S. / $53.99 CAN.
In DEATH NOTE, Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects – and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life?
“The DEATH NOTE All-In-One Edition presents a comprehensive way to savor all of the action and psychological tension of the genre-defining series,” says Hope Donovan, VIZ Media’s Managing Editor. “We invite fans to return to the riveting world of DEATH NOTE with this stunningly massive new edition.”
Born in Tokyo, Tsugumi Ohba is the author of the hit series DEATH NOTE, BAKUMAN, and PLATINUM END.
Takeshi Obata was born in 1969 in Niigata, Japan, and first achieved international recognition as the artist behind the wildly popular Shonen Jump title, HIKARU NO GO, which won the 2003 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize: Shinsei “New Hope” Award and the 2000 Shogakukan Manga Award. The series is also published in English by VIZ Media. He went on to illustrate DEATH NOTE as well as the hugely successful manga series BAKUMAN, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, and PLATINUM END.

Image Comics Announces "Bitter Root" for Spring 2018
KILLING IS ONE THING… CURING IS ANOTHER IN THE FORTHCOMING BITTER ROOT
PORTLAND, OR — Image Comics is pleased to announce at this year’s Rose City Comic Con an all-new ongoing series from David Walker, Chuck Brown, and Sanford Greene that will launch in 2018 titled, BITTER ROOT.
BITTER ROOT is set in 1920s with the Harlem Renaissance in full swing. The new series will follow the Sangerye Family—New York (and the world’s) only hope for salvation from supernatural forces threatening doom and destruction. Once the greatest family of monster hunters in the world, the Sangeryes must move beyond the tragedies of the past, or be forced to sit back and watch an unimaginable evil ravage the human race.
“Bitter Root is going to be unlike any comic book people have seen,” said Walker. “We're mixing action and horror, with a cast of characters unique to the medium to tell an epic tale of the Sangerye family and the sacrifices they are willing to make for humanity. I'm excited for this series for several reasons. It gives me the chance to work with Sanford again, Chuck, who is a great co-writer, and Image, which publishes some absolutely amazing comics."
Brown added: "Bitter Root is a dream project. Walker, Greene, and I share the same tastes while bringing our own unique talents and perspectives to the book. Bitter Root takes a classic horror genre and remolds it into something new and eye opening. I haven’t had this much fun creating comics in awhile."
BITTER ROOT #1 from Image Comics will hit stores in 2018.

ABC's "The Goldbergs" Joins Nick at Night Lineup
Nickelodeon Welcomes The Goldbergs to Nick at Nite’s Family Comedy Lineup Beginning Monday, Sept. 18, 2017
Share it: @nickatnitetv #GoldbergsNAN
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nickelodeon is bringing Walkmans, stonewashed denim and big hair to Nick at Nite with the addition of the popular family sitcom "The Goldbergs," beginning Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at 1 a.m. (ET/PT). The series follows the adventures of the Goldberg family as they share the ups and downs of life together in the ‘80s. Following the series launch, the four-season, 95-episode library of The Goldbergs will continue to air daily at 1 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nick at Nite.
Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon’s nighttime programming block featuring hit family comedies, is currently the number-one cable network with W18-49, a position it has held for the last five consecutive months (April-August 2017). The Goldbergs, ABC’s hit show that ranks number one in its time period for A18-49 across both broadcast and cable, is the latest series to join the Nick at Nite lineup which also includes the Emmy Award-winning series Friends, as well as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Full House and George Lopez.
In The Goldbergs, there was a simpler time called the '80s--before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up and peanut allergies. For geeky and movie obsessed youngest child Adam (Sean Giambrone), these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other--just with a lot more yelling. Mom Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is a classic "smother," an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who loves her delicious kids, but still rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries. Dad Murray (Jeff Garlin) is gruff and sometimes oblivious, parenting with half his attention span but all his heart. Sister Erica (Hayley Orrantia) is popular and terrifying, doing her best to cover up that she's the smartest of the clan. Barry (Troy Gentile) is a passionate dreamer, who maybe dreams a little too big and who always gets the short end of the stick. Adam (Sean Giambrone) is the youngest, a camera-wielding future director who's navigating first love, and growing up with his family. Rounding out the family is beloved grandfather Al "Pops" Solomon (George Segal), the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who's learning as much from his family as he teaches them.
The Goldbergs stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids) as Beverly Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile (Good Luck Chuck) as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia (The X Factor) as Erica Goldberg, with George Segal (Just Shoot Me) as Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as Murray Goldberg.
Adam F. Goldberg, Doug Robinson, Alex Barnow, Marc Firek, Lew Schneider, Chris Bishop, David Guarascio and Andy Secunda are executive producers. The Goldbergs is produced by Happy Madison and Adam F. Goldberg Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is one of the television industry’s leading content providers, producing and distributing programming worldwide in every genre and for every platform. In addition to managing one of the industry’s largest libraries of award-winning feature films, television shows and formats, SPT is home to a thriving U.S. production business and operates 18 wholly-owned or joint venture production companies in 12 countries around the world. Sony Pictures Television is a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company.
Nickelodeon, now in its 38th year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, digital, recreation, books and feature films. Nickelodeon’s U.S. television network is seen in more than 90 million households and has been the number-one-rated kids’ basic cable network for 22 consecutive years. New Line Cinema's "IT" Attacks Audiences Early
The Terror Looms Large as New Line Cinema’s “IT” Opens Globally in IMAX® Day-and-Date with Conventional Theatres
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that New Line Cinema’s highly anticipated horror thriller, IT, will open in domestic and select international IMAX® theatres day-and-date with its wide theatrical release, starting with the earliest international markets on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and in North America with Thursday night previews on September 7, 2017.
In IMAX theatres around the globe, horror fans can be immersed in the terrifying world of one of Stephen King’s most popular novels—brought to the big screen for the first time by director Andy Muschietti.
Tickets for IMAX showings are now available for advance purchase.
New Line Cinema’s horror thriller “IT” tells the story of seven young outcasts growing up in the township of Derry, Maine, who call themselves the Losers’ Club. Each of them has been ostracized for one reason or another; each has a target on their back from the local pack of bullies…and all have seen their inner fears come to life in the form of an ancient shapeshifting predator they can only call It.
For as long as their town has existed, Derry has been the entity’s hunting ground, emerging from the sewers every 27 years to feed on the terrors of its chosen prey: Derry’s children. Banding together over one horrifying and exhilarating summer, the Losers form a close bond to help them overcome their own fears and stop a killing cycle that began on a rainy day, with a small boy chasing a paper boat as it swept down a storm drain…and into the hands of Pennywise the Clown.
Directed by Andy Muschietti (“Mama”), “IT” is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades. First published in 1986, IT became an instant classic. It continues to be counted among the best and most influential works of the undisputed literary master of horror, inspiring numerous film and television projects in the years that have followed.
The film stars Bill Skarsgård (“Allegiant,” TV’s “Hemlock Grove”) as the story’s central villain, Pennywise. An ensemble of young actors also star in the film, including Jaeden Lieberher (“Midnight Special”), Jeremy Ray Taylor (“Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip”), Sophia Lillis (“37”), Finn Wolfhard (TV’s “Stranger Things”), Wyatt Oleff (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Chosen Jacobs (upcoming “Cops and Robbers”), Jack Dylan Grazer (“Tales of Halloween”), Nicholas Hamilton (“Captain Fantastic”) and Jackson Robert Scott, making his film debut.
Muschietti directed “IT” from a screenplay by Chase Palmer & Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman, based on the novel by King. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg and Barbara Muschietti produced the film, with Dave Neustadter, Walter Hamada, Richard Brener, Toby Emmerich, Marty P. Ewing, Doug Davison, Jon Silk and Niija Kuykendall serving as executive producers.
The behind-the-scenes creative team included director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” “Oldboy”), production designer Claude Paré (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), editor Jason Ballantine (“Mad Max: Fury Road”), and costume designer Janie Bryant (TV’s “Mad Men”). The music was composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (“Annabelle: Creation”).
New Line Cinema presents a Vertigo Entertainment/Lin Pictures/Katzsmith Production, “IT.” Opening on September 8, 2017, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
“IT” has been rated R for violence/horror, bloody images, and for language.
