From THR:  Veteran film and television director, James Frawley, has died at the age of 82, Tuesday, January 22, 2019.  Over his five-decade career, Frawley directed episodes of "Perry Mason," "The Outer Limits," and "Gunsmoke," and he directed "The Muppet Movie" (1979).  Frawley is probably best known for being a key figure in the development of "The Monkees" TV series.  Frawley also directed 28 of the series' 58 episodes.

From TheWrap:  The comedy writer and stand-up comedian, Kevin Barnett, has died at the age of 32, Tuesday, January 22, 2019.  Barnett co-created the Fox sitcom, "Rel."

From Variety:  Film producer Andrew Vajna has died at the age of 74, Sunday, January 20, 2019.  In 1976, he co-founded Carolco with Mario Kassar.  Vajna produced such films as "Nixon" and "Evita," but he was known for the numerous film on which he was an executive producer.  Among the best known are the first three "Rambo" films (including 1982's "First Blood"); "Angel Heart," "Total Recall," "Tombstone," and "Judge Dredd," to name a few.

91st Academy Award® Nominations Announced Tues, Jan. 22nd

91ST OSCARS® NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

LOS ANGELES, CA – Actor-comedian and Oscar®–nominated writer Kumail Nanjiani and actress–producer–director Tracee Ellis Ross announced the 91st Oscars® nominations Tuesday, January 22, 2019, live from the Academy’s headquarters in Beverly Hills via a global live stream on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, the Academy’s digital platforms, a satellite feed and broadcast media.

Nanjiani and Ross announced the nominees in 9 categories at 5:20 a.m. PT, and the remaining 15 categories at 5:30 a.m. PT. For a complete list of nominees, visit the official Oscars website, www.oscar.com.

Academy members from each of the 17 branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominees are selected by a vote of multi-branch screening committees. Active members of the Academy are eligible to vote for the winners in all 24 categories beginning Tuesday, February 12, 2019 through Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Live from STAPLES Center, and hosted by Alicia Keys, the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

Making her GRAMMY® performance debut, Cabello received two nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance ("Havana [Live]") and Best Pop Vocal Album (Camila).

Cardi B is nominated for Record Of The Year ("I Like It"), Album Of The Year (Invasion Of Privacy), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Maroon 5 ("Girls Like You"), Best Rap Performance ("Be Careful"), and Best Rap Album (Invasion Of Privacy).

First-time GRAMMY nominees Dan + Shay are up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("Tequila").

First-time GRAMMY nominee Post Malone received four nominations, Record Of The Year ("Rockstar" with 21 Savage), Album Of The Year (Beerbongs & Bentleys), Best Pop Solo Performance ("Better Now"), and Best Rap/Sung Performance ("Rockstar").

Taking the GRAMMY stage for the first time, Mendes is nominated for Song Of The Year ("In My Blood") and Best Pop Vocal Album (Shawn Mendes).

Current two-time GRAMMY nominee Monáe is up for Album Of The Year (Dirty Computer) and Best Music Video ("PYNK").

Two-time GRAMMY winner and current nominee Musgraves is up for four GRAMMY Awards, Album Of The Year (Golden Hour), Best Country Solo Performance ("Butterflies"), Best Country Song ("Space Cowboy"), and Best Country Album (Golden Hour).

The 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards are produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures for the Recording Academy. Ken Ehrlich is executive producer, Ben Winston is executive producer, Louis J. Horvitz is director, Chantal Sausedo is the talent producer, and David Wild and Ehrlich are the writers.
