Dark Horse Announces Delay of Anticipated Comic Book, "Black Hammer"
LEMIRE & ORMSTON’S ‘BLACK HAMMER’ DELAYED
MILWAUKIE, OR—Due to an unforeseen health issue, Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston’s anticipated creator-owned series Black Hammer has been delayed until a future date.
“Black Hammer has been a labor of love for me. It’s a project that I’ve been working on in various forms for seven years,” series cocreator Jeff Lemire said. “And as excited as I am to share it, sometimes life gets in the way of comics.
“On March 26, my amazing collaborator Dean Ormston suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on the left side of his brain, which affected his whole right side,” he continued. “Dean is now at home and recovering. As a result, we have decided to postpone the launch of Black Hammer until Dean is able to work regularly again. I’d like to thank all the fans and retailers for their patience and understanding as Dean recovers and promise that Black Hammer will be worth the wait.”
“In essence, this is a dream project, and to top it all off, I get to have my art enhanced by colorist supremo Dave Stewart,” Ormston told Comic Book Resources. “Sadly, about a month ago, I had a bleed on the brain, so things have been put on hold until I recover and get back to drawing fully. I am tentatively getting back to drawing Black Hammer, albeit slowly, but the outlook is positive and I’m confident of a full recovery.”
Retailers will be notified of a new date for Black Hammer in a future communication.
“Dean’s made Black Hammer’s visuals his own, and none of us can imagine launching the book before he’s able to draw it uninterrupted,” said series editor Brendan Wright. “We’ll reschedule the launch as soon as we can, and Jeff and Dean’s work on the full issue is going to blow everyone away!”

The nominations include HELLO KITTY, HELLO 40: A CELEBRATION IN 40 STORIES for Best Publication for Early Readers, as well three nominations for manga (graphic novel) in the category of Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Asia. These include ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, with original story by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and art by Takeshi Obata, MASTER KEATON, Vol. 1 by Naoki Urasawa, with story by Hokusei Katsushika and Takashi Nagasaki, and ONE-PUNCH MAN, with story by ONE and artwork by Yusuke Murata.
Named for pioneering writer and comic artist Will Eisner, the awards recognize exemplary comics, graphic novels and other pop writings, and are given each year as part of the annual Comic-Con International convention, at which VIZ Media will be a major exhibitor and participant in the programs offered. New Line Cinema Begins Production on "How to Be Single"

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Principal photography is underway on New Line Cinema’s comedy “How to Be Single.” The film stars Dakota Johnson (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), Rebel Wilson (“Pitch Perfect”), Alison Brie (“Get Hard”), Damon Wayans, Jr. (“Let’s Be Cops”) and Leslie Mann (“This is 40,” upcoming “Vacation”), under the direction of Christian Ditter (“Love, Rosie,” “The Crocodiles”).
There’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. “How to Be Single” also stars Jason Mantzoukas (“Neighbors,” TV’s “The League”), Anders Holm (“Neighbors,” upcoming “The Intern”), Nicholas Braun (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) and Jake Lacey (HBO’s “Girls”).
Ditter is directing the comedy from a screenplay by Dana Fox (“Couples Retreat,” “What Happens in Vegas”) and Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein (“The Vow,” “He’s Just Not That Into You”), based on the book by Liz Tucillo (TV’s “Sex & the City,” He’s Just Not That Into You). John Rickard and Fox are producing the film. Marcus Viscidi and Michele Weiss are serving as executive producers, along with Nancy Juvonen and Drew Barrymore, under their Flower Films banner.
Ditters’ behind-the-scenes creative team is headed by his frequent collaborator, director of photography Christian Rein, as well as production designer Steve Saklad (“Juno,” “Up in the Air”), editor Tia Nolan (“Friends with Benefits”) and costume designer Leah Katznelson (“Enough Said,” “21 Jump Street”).
