From CNN: The 39th President of the United States of America (1977-81), Jimmy Carter, has died at the age of 100, Sunday, December 29, 2024. At 100, Carter was a the longest living former POTUS. President Carter was also the 76th Governor of the state of George (1971-75). In 2002, he was honored with the "Nobel Peace Prize," for his work related to the Carter Center, which he founded with his wife, Rosalynn Carter (1927-2023), in partnership with Emory University of Atlanta.

From Deadline: American actress and singer, Linda Lavin, has died at the age of 87, Sunday, December 29, 2024. Lavin is best known for the role of "Alice Hyatt" in the long-running former CBS sitcom, "Alice" (1976 to 1985). She received a single Primetime Emmy nomination for the role. A prolific stage actress, Lavin won a Tony Award for her role in "Broadway Bound" (0987). She was nominated five other times for a Tony and was nominated once for a Daytime Emmy Award.
From Deadline: American film director, producer, and screenwriter, Charles Shyer, has died at the age of 83, Friday, December 27, 2024. He was best known as the writer-director of "Baby Boom" (1988), the 1991 "Father of the Bride" remake and 1995 sequel, "Father of the Bride II," and the 1998 "Parent Trap" remake. Shyer also wrote "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977) and "Private Benjamin" (1980). Shyer was married to Oscar-nominated writer-director, Nancy Meyers from 1980 to 1999. Shyer shared a "Best Original Screenplay" Oscar nomination with Meyers and writer Harvey Miller for "Private Benjamin."
From Deadline: American television sportscaster, Greg Gumbel, has died at the age of 78, Friday, December 27, 2024. Gumbel was best known for his work with CBS Sports, mostly notable for its coverage of the NFL and NCAA basketball. Gumbel was also the first African-American to do play-by-play in a major sports championship when he did it for Super Bowl XXXV in 2001 for CBS. Gumble was an 11-time nominee at the Sports Emmy Awards. Greg's younger brother is fellow sportscaster and TV journalist, Bryant Gumbel.
From Deadline: The British-Argentine actress, Olivia Hussey, has died at the age of 73, Friday, December 27, 2024. As a teenager, Hussey shot to fame as "Juliet" in Franco Zefferilli's 1968 "Romeo & Juliet" film. She also appeared in the seminal, cult slasher film, "Black Christmas" (1974) and director John Guillermin's Agatha Christie film, "Death on the Nile" (1978). For television, she appeared as "Mary, mother of Jesus" in Zefferilli's "Jesus of Nazareth" miniseries and ABC's two-part adaptation of Stephen King's "It" (1990). In 1969, Hussey won the Golden Globe Awards for "New Star of the Year - Actress."
